Welcome to Applied Geospatial!
I’m Chris(topher) Ren, and this is my publication. This newsletter will be focused on technical work in the geospatial, agriculture and machine learning world. I’ll be sharing projects, tools, code and analysis I find useful and interesting. In previous lives I worked on applying machine learning to geospatial data at places like national labs (Los Alamos National Laboratory), non-profits (The Earth Genome/Earthrise Media), and startups (Gro Intelligence). I learnt a lot of things from people much smarter than myself at those places, and this newsletter is an attempt so pass some of that on to a wider audience. The hope is that this will be a technically useful blog where we take a deep dive into subjects such as crop mapping, yield modeling, deep learning and data assimilation methods using remote sensing data.
If you’d there is a specific paper, model or project you’d like to see implemented or written up, please contact me at chris@demeterlabs.io! I’m always looking for suggestions and ideas.
